Bathory – Under The Sign Of The Black Mark

20130607-150221.jpgThe first time my brother saw a Bathory lp, he misread the logo as Batlord. So he bought a Mentors lp instead… We were obsessed by Bathory back then. Phoned to all the Börje Forsbergs we could find in the phonebook. Börje was Quorthon’s father. We never got hold of the Real Börje though.

20130607-150603.jpgBathory was too us the most extreme music ever. And indeed, we also obsessed about Countess Elizabeth Bathory. I was excited that she had had a dwarf minion called Janos as my name is Janus.

Sabbat – History Of A Time To Come

20130606-160005.jpg
“Bell, book and candle, candle, book, bell,
Forwards and backwards to damn me to Hell.”
I still remember my scepticism when I was told that there was an English thrash band called Sabbat. I decided to give their lp a chance, and was rewarded with this beast of a thrash lp.

The lp here, is bought on Discogs, as my original lp was sold to my brother in one of our many trades.

And yeah, this record is recorded in West Germany.

Thrash!!!

Condemned? – Humanoid or Biomechanoid?

20130530-081217.jpg
As a longtime Attitude Adjustment and Attitude? fan, it was fantastic to discover this lp. They are still around it seems, if any member of Condemned? ever read this, then know that your music made a huge impact on me.

20130530-081324.jpg
I ordered this at Radio Holm in Ribe in 1987. Then I forgot to fetch it, and then found it at a discount in Radio Holm half a year later. I’ve always loved this twisted slab of hardcore. Vastly underrated in my opinion…
All information wants to be, is free… Here is some on this lp: http://www.discogs.com/Condemned-Humanoid-Or-Biomechanoid/release/4383514

Death – Scream Bloody Gore

20130521-145452.jpg
This is one of the first three “wild” lp’s I ever bought, the other two were Shark Attack by Wehrmacht and Millions of Damned Christians by M.D.C.

Scream Bloody Gore is the only record by Death that I really like, it is primitive and unrelenting and fucking awesome.
20130521-145522.jpg
I know many people think their later records are better and more refined, but I am too simple to enjoy “refined” music. I want speed and noise… I get both here. Thank you Death.

Repulsion – Horrified

20130510-150733.jpg
The first time I saw the cover of Horrified, was as a patch on Bill Steer’s jeans, at the Napalm Death gig in Club Paramount, Roskilde, Denmark in November 1988.

20130510-150818.jpg
At the time, there were three legendary bands that I really wanted to hear, Siege, Master and Repulsion. When this baby was released by Mr. Steer in 1989 on the Earache sub-label Necrosis, I was ecstatic.

And what a blast beat/distorted bass/gory lyric party I had. Still have for that matter…
20130510-151013.jpg
Tonight I’m going to see Repulsion live here in Copenhagen, and frankly – I can’t wait!

Extra Hot Sauce – Taco Of Death

20130507-170346.jpgIf I could only listen to one lp for the rest of my life, I might select this masterpiece.

20130507-170814.jpgIf you don’t trust me, then read the sticker.
The drummer is Dan Lilker, and this record is grossly forgotten by most.

20130507-171005.jpgThe songs are catchy, the lyrics good fun, and the production is… interesting.

20130507-171349.jpg
If you come across this gem, then don’t hestitate. Grab it! There are some good fun to be had here, AND a speedy Black Sabbath cover version….

20130507-193834.jpgHere is a bonus photo. It’s the Extra Hot Sauce demo tape. My buddy Kenneth owns it.

Here is the Discogs info on the release I own: http://www.discogs.com/Extra-Hot-Sauce-Taco-Of-Death/release/383244

And here is the info on the us version on Arena Records (run by Glenn Evans of Nuclear Assault): http://www.discogs.com/Extra-Hot-Sauce-Taco-Of-Death/release/993682

Converge – All We Love We Leave Behind

20130427-132340.jpg

To be honest – I hated this record at first, second and even third listen. But I kept trying – partly due to the great reviews, and partly due to my buddy Jeppe’s constant preaching about its qualities.

And at fourth listen it clicked.
This is a beautiful 2×12″ in red vinyl. I give you all its splendour.
